When the World Economic Forum met in Cape Town for its annual conference in autumn it was at a crucial time for many African women. In South Africa, for example, thousands took to the streets to protest the government’s failure to deal with rising violence against women. No wonder the topic of equality was very high on the forum’s agenda as well.
