What does the Future of Events Look Like? | Blockchained.news Online

When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, concerts were postponed, sports games were cancelled, and huge gatherings just seems unimaginable today. So what does this mean for the future of events?

Joon Ian Wong of CoinDesk is one of the lead producers of the Consensus Distributed event, and talks about how they had to quickly re-imagine a major conference, and the future of the events space.

He sees money as a social concept and conferences, real world or digital, are drivers of change. “Contagious ideas are the things that cause economic activity, right? It’s not just some kind of rational calculation of this or bet. And so putting all of those things in context, money is a deeply social activity and conferences are one manifestation of this attempt for everyone to agree on what this money thing is,” said Wong.
